Hawaiian Punk Revisited
Due to the overwhelming response I received from my takes on popular food characters at Wizard World Chicago; I'm dusting off an old sketch to finally ink and color it.
It seems in this day and age you can't just haul off and sock somebody who desires "A nice Hawaiian Punch!".
Next on the deck in this series will be finishing the Twinkie the Kid sketch I did a while ago.
Also, since there was so much demand for one, I'll have to do my take on Count Chocula eventually.

Summer Events!
San Diego Comic Con
July 25th - 29th.
I don't have a table this year since it's a very last minute thing. Unless some generous soul takes pity on me and offers up a spare 6 inches to sell my wares, that'd be mighty swell of ya!
Otherwise, I'll be trying to reconnect with people I met last year since I had to put everything on hold due to recent events.
Wizard World Chicago
August 9th - 12th.
I'm going to have a table in Artist's Alley with the legendary Bill Halliar selling sketchbooks and prints.
Hope to see everyone there(s)!
Be sure to buy plenty of thing from me and plenty of beers for me!

Acting!
I was inspired by a recent post on John K's blog regarding realistic and cartoon acting:
To illustrate his point, he posted several screencaps of a scene from the Honeymooners.
I thought it would be an interesting excercise to sketch out this interaction with two of my characters in Ralph and Norton's place.
I know they aren't necessarily on model or to scale, but that wasn't the point. It was to get a more expressive and subtle performance out my characters that I may not have done before.
There are some I like better than others and I can see where I could have added more but it was still a fun little excercise to do. Go ahead and give it a try!

Welcome to San Diego
When we arrived on Wednesday (preview night) of the con, we stopped by the Tin Fish across from the convention center for a bit of lunch. For our dining pleasure, we were treated to the site of a 5'2", D-E cupped, 60+ year old hooker "refreshing" herself over the intermittent fountains in front of the restaurant. Further proving to you youngsters out there that you should never drink water from a public fountain. I did this with a brush pen, but a more accurate representation could be achieved by making a sculpture comprised of Slim Jims.

and Hong Kong Phooey!

A Group Sketchbook Too?
Well with about six months of prep time, we managed to assemble a group sketchbook for the San Diego Comic Con in about 2 days! The good folks at RapidPod quickly assembled it and it is en route as we speak! This will be exclusive to the San Diego Comic Con next week, a supplies are limited.
The book: An InCONvienient Booth -or- How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Con (see if you can find the secret 3rd title on the book!) features art by Tom Bryski, Joe Feliciano, Bill Halliar, Melly Curphy, Felipe Smith (also his cover) and myself.

Come by table E-6 and get some! It's the table with about 43 artists crammed behind an eight foot table (we were screwed out of our second table).
Don't forget to pick up a copy or three of Gorilla Salad (see below) and I'll have some prints available as well.
